Kaduna, Nigeria – June 7, 2025 – The GBAM Foundation Inter-LGA Basketball Tournament has officially wrapped up in style, marking a transformative moment for grassroots sports and youth empowerment in Northern Nigeria.
Held from May 26 to June 7, the tournament gathered teams from all 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kaduna State for an event that blended sport, culture and community development under one bold vision: Graffiti, Basketball, Art band Music—GBAM.
CHAMPIONS RISE IN THRILLING FINALS
In the men’s division, Lere LGA claimed the championship title after a dominant showing by forward Bright, who recorded 12 points and 13 rebounds in the final. Their victory secured a ₦1,000,000 prize.
On the women’s side, Jaba LGA made headlines with a hard-fought win that went down to the last seconds of the game. Jaba took home ₦500,000, celebrating a well-earned triumph.
All games were officiated by high-level referees, including state-certified and internationally recognized officials, ensuring a standard of excellence throughout the tournament.
A FESTIVAL OF YOUTH CULTURE
What set this tournament apart was its fusion of sports with street culture. True to its name, GBAM brought together basketball with live graffiti painting, rap battles and DJ sessions—turning Murtala Mohammed Square into more than just a sports arena. It became a safe space for expression, energy and empowerment.
