The newly renovated KOK Basketball Court in Lugbe, Abuja by HOTCOAL basketball was officially commissioned on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 marking a significant milestone for basketball enthusiasts and the community at large.
The ceremony was attended by basketball players, fans, community leaders and sports enthusiasts who gathered to witness the unveiling of the upgraded facility.
In his welcome address, the GM of HOTCOAL BASKETBALL ; Dr Ubon Udoh, delivered a heartfelt welcome address emphasizing the organization’s commitment to promoting basketball and fostering community development through sports.
He highlighted the importance of investing in sports infrastructure to nurture talent and promote healthy living.
Highlight of the event was the official commissioning of the court by Dr UBON UDOH which involved the traditional cutting of the ribbon and a symbolic lay-up shot. This moment marked the official opening of the court for public use.
The event featured a series of engaging activities designed to highlight the importance of the court and inspire the next generation of basketball talent.
The first match of the day featured the KOK Jazz team, who showcased their skills in a fast-paced 10-minute game, thrilling the audience with their agility and teamwork.
A thrilling match between the KOK Aces and Gilali Girls followed, with both teams displaying exceptional talent and sportsmanship. The game ended with cheers and applause from the excited crowd.
The event concluded with an exhibition match between the KOK Blazers and TNT, two of the most renowned teams in the area. The match was a display of high-level basketball, leaving the audience in awe of the players’ skills and determination.
Awards were presented to individuals and teams who have made significant contributions to basketball in the community, recognizing their dedication and achievements.
